Project Overview

Northampton General Hospital, boasts an enormous fire alarm system (circa 6,500 devices) which has been split into 4 Autrosafe Networks across 29 Autrosafe Fire Alarm Panels and 58 Repeater Panels. Each Autrosafe Network communicates directly with six Autromaster 5000 PCs (Fire Alarm Graphical Packages).

The Challenge

The Alarm Hub Ltd was set with the task for coming up with a solution to improve the response time when attending a fire activation, ensuring the fire response team could swiftly identify the exact location of the fire using graphical representation.

Owing to the existing enormity of hardware already on the network infrastructure, the maximum number of Autromaster 5000 PCs was near capacity.

The Solution

Autromaster 5000 – Autrobrowser

The Alarm Hub Ltd provided 20 Autrobrowser PCs, which were installed at critical locations to provide the fire response team with a real time view of any fire event.

The Autromaster 5000 PCs which have been loaded with over 183 drawings with over 6500 devices plotted on them have been programmed and configured to interface with the new Autrobrowser PCs.

The Aftercare

Since the completion of the project, The Alarm Hub Ltd has continued to supply the hospital with fully robust maintenance and service contract. Due to the size and technical nature of the project, the hospital benefits from a site-based engineer to service and maintain the system and holds meetings with the fire compliance and estates teams regularly.
